A highlight for me recently was seeing the contestants on Master chef the Professionals being taken out to forage for their ingredients in nature. This was their final placement with one of the top rated chefs in the world, not some attempt at green wash by the tele or the 4 Michelin starred restaurant in Holland.
Seeing the finalists, all professional chefs, enthusing about new flavours as they picked and cooked was a very confirming and cherishing moment.
The debate for where our food comes from swings to and fro from fashionable trend to excentrics only.
This years Learn Make and Take Aways events with Foraging expert Rachel Lambert and myself at Potager have been hugely popular with I quote everyone "taking home the best goody bag ever "
Therefore I jumped at the chance to go foraging for the day recently with Caroline Davey and James Wong. We 'the motley crew' represented the 'locals' who as the story goes would have come together to-gather natures harvest in years gone by.
The most perfect day all filmed by the BBC for Countryfile and available to watch on iPlayer, so do watch ,we are 40 mins in to the program shown on Sunday 21st November.
Happy foraging
