Being involved at Potager has never been a sole occupation for Peter and I and indeed Mark and Saffa are finding they are equally busy working and studying away. My positive spin on this is that we are all busy learning, earning and networking.
My new job is the perfect accompaniment to Potager. Employed by Real Ideas Organisation to train 5 growers I now spend 4 days a week teaching food growing.
A recent highlight has been to sell to a chef who loves our salad having a degree in nature conservation Dieter understands our organic and permaculture principles and has asked me to forage for him as well. The salad boxes I now deliver to him at Penzance Arts Club Dining Room include wild penny wort, tri-cornered leek flowers and sorrel among a colourful array of leaves and flowers.
At Potager's Wild food, Learn Make and Take Away on the 25th April we not only learnt about the Wild Edibles with Rachel Lambert but also the unusual garden edibles and all had a merry time making nettle beer, pesto, herb butters and pine needle vinegar.
Potager is hosting another forage on the 5th June to show you how to make more tasty goodies to take away.
